Why Medicare?
Meet Lorna.
Not too long ago, a woman named Lorna became eligible for Medicare, just as thousands of Americans do every month, and she quickly realized that enrolling in Medicare…is A LOT.
Medicare has options and rules and “parts”...and even had donut holes, for some reason. Like many people do, Lorna turned to her adult daughter for help figuring it all out. Luckily for Lorna, and all of us, her daughter is the CEO of Jellyvision.
When our CEO Amanda experienced firsthand how much difficulty and confusion is baked into the Medicare decision process, she knew that Jellyvision was uniquely positioned to tackle it head on.
What's our History?
Thanks for asking. We’re not new kids on the block. With a long, storied history dating back to 1989, we’ve been an educational film company, then an educational software company, then a gaming company that created hits like YOU DON’T KNOW JACK and Who Wants to be A Millionaire on these things called CD-ROMs.
But when the internet happened, we knew we wanted to evolve from creating virtual game shows hosts to virtual advisors, to help people trying to navigate complicated, boring, but important things online and to “talk them through it.”
On the flip side of this century, we spent 10 years as a digital agency, learning how to build trust and explain a wide array of topics for corporate partners. But since about 2010, we’ve been all ALEX, all the time.
What's a Jellyvision?
Jellyvision is an award-winning technology company whose platform, ALEX, talks people through important, complex, and stressful life decisions. We help people make smart choices about their benefits, their health, and their money in a way that’s unbiased, transparent, and human.
Our Values

Clarity
We understand the emotional and mental weight of making healthcare decisions, offering compassionate support that helps alleviate anxiety and builds confidence during the decision-making process.
Joy
We are eager to provide the best experience possible, embracing joy and refusing to be boring out of respect for your furrowed brow.
Meet the humans behind the human connection
AMANDA
CEO
Amanda has been a huge part Jellyvision’s success since 2011. She wanted to tackle Medicare after seeing that even simple things are hard—like "how poorly named it is. A, B, C, and D don't tell me anything about what they are and whether someone needs them." Amanda is an active mentor and board member, dedicated to expanding access to careers in tech.
LINDSAY
Marketer
Lindsay wants to help people navigate Medicare because she's seen how difficult it is for her parents, aunts, and uncles, and how directly it affects their health and finances. When she’s not nerding out about Medicare, she mentors girls in foster care with Seattle Angels, and loves hiking the trails at her favorite place in the world, North Cascades National Park.
SAM
Data Scientist
As an economist who's deeply interested in healthcare and policy, Sam was surprised to learn that Medicare not only pays for healthcare for a lot of people, but is also the largest single source of funding for medical residency programs. In his free time, he channels his love of cooking into hosting multi-course dinner parties and honing his culinary skills.
DAN
Engineer
Dan was inspired to bring simplicity and clarity to Medicare after seeing that it's no easy feat to understand, even for trained professionals. Dan has many loves including coffee, history, his cat named Void, and wearing black t-shirts. He also loves food (though not applesauce), and has even worked as a chef in fine dining restaurants around Chicago.
KATIE
Designer
Katie has found it surprisingly addictive to learn about Medicare, and was shocked to learn about the lifetime penalties for missing enrollment periods—yikes! Outside of Jellyvision, she's an accomplished ceramicist with work featured in Business Insider. She grew up in rural NW Pennsylvania, where she developed a talent for getting cars unstuck from ice and snow.
PAULA
Designer
Paula's work is informed by her belief that simplicity and joy are intertwined. She's determined to simplify Medicare so that people can find the plan that's right for them without stress. She’s also passionate about supporting children in the foster care system. She can often be found singing karaoke or indulging in 85% dark chocolate (her definition of joy).
JOHN
Partner Success
John is a "glass half full" person, and bringing joy to others by simplifying a complex topic like Medicare really excites him. He's also a serious dog lover and supports rescues in the city of Chicago. John enjoys traveling, experiencing new cultures, and tasting different foods—which might explain why he's eternally on a quest for the best street taco.
CHRIS
Writer
Chris wanted to join this team because Medicare is...hard. Crazy hard. And he feels that people shouldn't have to enroll in something as important as health coverage without understanding it. A writer at heart, he has authored four screenplays and two books, but finds the most joy in listening to his kids play. In his own words, he "can't think of anything better."
